Make sure your Mother feels your love this Mother’s Day.
I loved Mother’s Day when my Mother was alive. Mother’s Day was an excuse to spoil my Mother. She didn’t enjoy being spoiled, but we insisted. 😀 When she passed away and I was early in my grief journey, it became a painful day for me. I was conflicted. On one hand I was lucky enough to have a bonus Mother, someone my own Mother trusted implicitly since I was young. I wanted to celebrate her. Also, I have other family and friends who are Mothers. On the other hand, the pain of losing my Mother was still fresh and I couldn’t bear anything that reminded me she was gone.
Almost six years later, I still miss my Mother. I miss my mother-in-law, and I miss our niece Sophia. They are always in my heart. However, I’m finally able to make space to celebrate them and the other Mamas in my world (here and beyond).
